HOW IT WORKS

Heat pump water heaters (HPWH) pull heat from the surrounding air and move it into the water using an efficient electric heat pump. They use a small fan and a sealed refrigerant system to capture warm air from the room and transfer it into the tank. This process uses far less electricity than resistance water heating, making HPWHs 2 -3 times more efficient.

ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heaters can save a household of four approximately $550 per year on its electric bills compared to a standard electric water heater and more than $200 per year compared to propane.

A SAFE ALTERNATIVE FOR YOUR HOME

HPWHs are all electric and combustion free, removing a source of carbon monoxide and potential gas leaks in your home. Also, HPWHs do not generate heat, so they remain cool to the touch.

Overall, heat pump water heaters offer improved energy efficiency, long-term cost savings and a longer life span when compared with traditional electric water heaters.
