Northwoods Bank wins local Touchstone Energy® Community Award
Itasca-Mantrap has named Northwoods Bank as the winner of the local 2009 Touchstone Energy Community Award, for their establishment of the “Kinship Clubhouse Giveaway,” a fundraising effort to benefit the local Kinship program. Northwoods Bank received an engraved plaque and $500 to be donated to a charity of choice in appreciation of its community service. Northwoods Bank donated the $500 to Kinship of the Park Rapids Area.
Northwoods Bank established the Kinship Clubhouse Giveaway to generate awareness and assist in fundraising efforts of Kinship of the Park Rapids Area, an organization which provides long-term mentoring friendships to children ages six to 18 in need of additional adult support. Employees of Northwoods Bank and their spouses, with additional help from current Kinship mentors and mentees, volunteered to build an 8’ x 8’ clubhouse that was raffled off by the Kinship organization, who received all of the proceeds. The outcome of the Kinship Clubhouse Giveaway was the collection of $6,300 for the recruitment, training and supervision of new Kinship mentors and increased awareness and credibility of the Kinship organization.
Itasca-Mantrap sought candidates during the month of October for the Touchstone Energy Community Award, which recognizes organizations for outstanding contributions to the local community.
